In the mid-sixties, Sunbeam commissioned the American constructor, Carroll Shelby, to breathe more sportiness into the Roadster. Thereafter the father of the AC Cobra transplanted a big V8 into the little Englishman, which makes the Alpine a "Tiger". And rightly so! Because the car is only optically typically British. Hardly anyone suspects a powerful V8 to be in this tightly designed Roadster.
