In 1912, August Horch, one of the leading automotive pioneers of the previous century, introduced the Audi Type C, a bigger version of the Type B that was launched in the previous year. The biggest innovation in this touring car was the 3.6 litre aluminium 4-cylindre engine that was designed by Horch himself.
